Alter or quench: Through the flows
Interférences, Bayonne

From 3d to 6th February 2025 9:30-16:30 Cité des Arts, Bayonne

This exploratory workshop invites participants to immerse themselves in the varied rhythms of water: the gentleness of surfaces, the intensity of deep currents, the rush of rapids, and the slowness of meanders. Water, in its visible flow, also hides invisible worlds: whirlpools beneath the surface, diffused murmurs, and echoes of what fades away or is reborn. Always in motion, it shakes up our relationship with time and space, and the ways we try to “keep up” in the maelstrom of our lives.

Through listening games, field recordings, and sound transformations, participants will explore the tensions between continuous flows and interruptions, speed and slowness.

How can we listen to what murmurs or swirls beneath the surface, sinking into the folds of the flow? How can we reveal the invisible, letting these aquatic dynamics transform our perceptions and translate them artistically?

This experimental time offers a shift in perspective: to hear not only what flows, alters, or quenches, but also what slows down, settles, and unfolds. An invitation to navigate through the deep resonances of both aquatic and human worlds, where the visible and invisible intertwine to weave sonic narratives and cultivate an attentive listening that can transform our relationship with the world…
